Williams F. Austin named Goodwill Global Ambassador by IFPSD for his commitment achieving SDG3 "Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages"..


Sustainable Development Goal 3 and Hearing Loss


More than one billion people at risk of hearing loss, warns WH

According to a study published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2021, for the UN World Hearing Day, "…more than one billion people aged 12 to 35 are at risk of hearing loss due to prolonged and excessive exposure to loud music and other recreational sounds, which can have catastrophic consequences on their physical and mental health, education and employment…” Source WHO.


Mr. William F. Austin was named "1rst Global Goodwill Ambassador for Ears and Hearing" by Ms. Sally Kader, IFPSD’s President for his commitment helping millions hear, while providing training and education on hearing, hearing loss and hearing aids globally the last 20 years.


The high level event was held at the United Nations with Mr. Bill Clinton 42nd President of United States as keynote speaker. In his speech, President Clinton stressed the importance on hearing health and the need of increasing fundings, and awareness globally to support this important cause.


“ … This is an important subject that I think I have completely overlooked, as an instrument and obligation of international development, until I met Bill and Tani Austin, in terms of what the Global Clinton Initiative . and I should be doing, and I realized that there were 300 million people thanks to them, who had severe hearing lost almost 40 million children, in developing countries, and I have watch his work for a long time… and I applaud the United Nations for giving us this forum, for doing this…” said Mr. Bill Clinton.

The event was organized by the International Federation for Peace & Sustainable Development, IFPSD, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Guatemala, in coordination with Sustainable Development Goals #3 (Good Health and Well-being), #5 (Gender Equality) and #17 (Partnerships for the Goals)


Among other prestigious attendees Ms. Barbara Bush, Heads of States, First Ladies, Foreign Ministers and Ministers of Health, Director General of the World Health Organization, along with UN Permanent Representatives, distinguished business executives, and other prominent dignitaries. "I have known and followed Ms KADER's work since the France. We have had the opportunity to work together on several occasions and I am pleased to have helped coordinate this high-level event and to have led the protocol of this event. I take this opportunity to thank Ms. Kader for her trust," said Angele Ventugol Onyie , CEO of GABRIEL'S Global Consulting, who has been working alongside IFPSD and various UN-affiliated organizations for many years.

The conference ended with an “invitation Only” reception honoring William F. Austin.
